Instrumentation for chemical processing
Chemical processing puts two demands on instrumentation at once: it has to resist aggressive, corrosive media, and in hazardous areas it has to be certified safe to operate. Material selection determines whether the instrument lasts; the area rating determines whether it can legally be installed in the zone.

Why does measurement fail in chemical processing?
Wetted materials decide life
Wetted-part compatibility drives the selection ahead of accuracy and price, and dissimilar metals corrode one another.
The zone sets the category
The zone fixes which equipment category may be installed, so an instrument on the wrong rating cannot lawfully go in.
Safety duties need evidence
A COMAH operator has to prevent major accidents and evidence it, so measurement that cannot be shown working is a gap.
Our approach
How we specify for chemical processing
Corrosion-resistant flow, level, pressure and temperature measurement with wetted materials matched to what runs through the line, instruments rated for the zone they sit in, and chemical-duty isolation and control valves specified to the same duty as the measurement beside them.

FAQ
Common questions
Do I need ATEX-rated instruments for chemical processing?
If the instrument sits in a classified hazardous area, yes: the rating must match the zone. We specify to your area classification.
Does ATEX-marked equipment still count in Great Britain?
Recognition of CE marking, which covers equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres, has been extended indefinitely for placing most goods on the market in Great Britain. UKCA remains a valid alternative, so either route can be used.
How do you stop corrosion attacking the instrument?
By matching wetted materials to the media: the right alloy, coating or fitting for what actually flows through the line.
Can you supply both the instrument and the matching valve?
Yes. We specify the measurement and the isolation or control valve together, matched to the same duty.
